From humble beginnings to helping thousands of children and families in Nepal break free from poverty, abuse, and exploitation, we’re proud to have stayed grassroots, passionate, and focused on long-term change.
We keep our admin costs low so more funds go directly to our life-changing programs – and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for passionate, reliable volunteers to help us shine online and share the genuine impact of our projects in transforming the lives of these children. If you love storytelling, design, working with passion, and want to make a real impact with a small, committed team – read on!
Job Description
We’re looking for a creative social media volunteer to help us share the incredible work happening with children in Nepal.
Key Tasks:
- Create and schedule engaging posts on Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn
- Use our library of project photos and stories to bring our impact to life
- Promote upcoming fundraising events and campaigns
- Collaborate with the team to stay up-to-date on what’s happening on the ground
- Create simple graphics using tools like Canva
Ideal Skills:
- Experience with social media platforms (especially FB & IG)
- Great written communication and storytelling
- Canva or other basic design tools
- Passion for child protection, equality and human rights
Time commitment: 1-2 hours per week (5-10 hours per month)

About the organisation
SCAI was established in July 2005 after its founders were inspired by a group of children they met while volunteering at an ‘orphanage’ in Kathmandu in 2004. They soon discovered that most of the children were not actually orphans, but had been trafficked, enticed, or sent away from home in search of education and a brighter future. Deeply moved by this, the founders began raising funds and partnered with like-minded local Nepalese to create safer, more meaningful alternatives.
In 2007, SCAI was registered as an INGO in Nepal, and the founder relocated to Nepal to lead the organisation as Country Director. The team established 'Sunrise Home', a residential care home for orphaned, abandoned, and vulnerable children at risk of abuse or exploitation. Soon after, they launched a reintegration program to support children’s return to their families.
SCAI then shifted its strategic focus to prevention - aiming to stop children from being unnecessarily separated from their families by providing education and holistic support to those most at risk. Over the years, SCAI has empowered thousands of children and their families to create brighter, more secure futures.
SCAI is registered as an Incorporated Association in South Australia and as a charity with the ACNC.
